Jimi Hendrix wanted the best. That's why he asked Glenn Schwartz to play for him at what turned out to be his last birthday party. " Guitar Glenn " had already been chosen in a disc jockey survey as one of the world's top, five rock guitarists. He played with a band called Pacific Gas & Electric on the national hit called, " Are You Ready? " He was also the first guitarist with the super group The James Gang. When Glenn left that group a national music magazine wrote, " Those shoes are going to be hard to fill." Then, Joe Walsh stepped into them. When Glenn stepped to the microphone at a rock festival in front of 80,000 people and broke the news that he had accepted Christ as his Savior the place came apart. He sold his Firebird but never lost the fire. Returning to Ohio he joined forces with a diverse group of Christian musicians already involved in pioneering what was later called " Gospel Rock." The All Saved Freak Band recorded four albums and three are presently available through Hidden Vision Records. These CD's provide a rare glimpse into a form of music designed to change the world, one heart at a time. Pianist Larry Hill and guitarist/vocalist Joe Markko were the two co-founders of this unusual group. The band included 11 members: two lead guitarists, one rhythm player, one bass, two percussionists, two keyboards, violin, cello and vocalist. Joe Markko and Mike Berkey have provided us with a brief history of the group.
